The Cuddliest Food Plushies, Ranked by Squishiness

Some snacks are crunchy. Ours are squishy. We gave every plushie and squishy in the shop a very serious, very scientific squeeze (okay, lots of squeezes) and ranked eight favourites from "nice hug" to "maximum squish".

Prices are in AUD, shipping is free, and the whole squad lives in our plush toys collection. Christmas order-by dates are at the bottom.

How we ranked them

Our official Squish Scale has one rule: squeeze it and watch your face. Plushies that hold their shape start the list (still lovely, just a bit more structured). Big fluffy pillows sit in the middle. Slow-rise foam squishies, the ones that sink under your fingers and puff back up, take the top spots. It's not science. It's better than science.

Why food plushies make great gifts

They're the easiest present to get right. Kids hug them, teens line them up on shelves, and grown-ups keep one on the desk "for stress". Our whole shop started with a pencil case shaped like a burrito, so we firmly believe the best snacks are the ones that last longer than lunch.

#8. Hiding Bunny Plushie (from A$40.95)

A shy white bunny hiding inside a strawberry or a carrot. Choose 18 cm (A$40.95) or 25 cm (A$55.95). Recommended for ages 14 and up, so it's one for teens and grown-ups.

A smiley muffin topped with plush strawberries, in red or pink. 10 cm (A$41.95) or 20 cm (A$50.00). Calorie count: zero.

Fourteen fruit and veg friends from 15 to 30 cm, including a kissy mango, a chilli, a cabbage and a smiley apple. Soft short plush, ages 3 and up.

#5. Chocolate Chip Cookie Plush Cushion (A$39.95)

A fluffy teddy-style cookie about 26 cm across, made for sofas, beds and reading nooks. The only biscuit you're allowed to take to bed.

Big hugs: the giant pillows

Both are bulky items, so they take longer to arrive. Order by Wednesday 21 October for Christmas.

#4. Candied Fruit Skewer Plush Pillow (A$59.95)

Tanghulu, but make it a 66 cm pillow. The top fruit has turned into a Shiba, Bunny, Goose or Piggy. Great for naps and even better for photos.

#3. Cat Dango Plush Pillow (A$61.95)

Three hanami dango on a stick, but they're cats. About 50 cm long and very fluffy. Pick Sweet Cat, Wide-Eyed Cat, Googly Eyes or Plain.

Maximum squish: slow-rise squishies

Squeeze, let go, and watch them slowly puff back up. Very satisfying.

Milk cartons, popcorn, fries, cat burgers and sprinkle donuts with happy faces, about 8 to 14 cm. Slow-rising and sold individually (donuts A$33.95).

Our number one squish. Twenty bakes, from a 6.5 cm mini toast to a 29 cm baguette, that look real and rise back slowly. Small parts, so not for under-3s. Sold individually.

Free shipping on every order in Australia.
Processing: 1-3 business days, then most items take 10-18 business days to arrive.
Bulky items (the Candied Fruit Skewer and Cat Dango pillows) take 25-40 business days.
For Christmas: order by Friday 20 November, or Wednesday 21 October for the two big pillows.

What's the difference between a plushie and a squishy?

Plushies are soft fabric with cotton filling, made for hugging. Squishies are soft foam that slowly rises back after you squeeze it, made for fidgeting.
